Blast off!
Hi. My name is Adam. I am the assistant editor for 32 Hours 7 Minutes. As Cory (the Director) and Loch (the Editor) are hard at work on the film, I have appointed myself Blog Master/motivational tour guide for this project. As such, I, working with Alex Roy himself, will be guiding you expectant movie/car fans through a whirlwind of emotionally-charged posts, covering everything from current updates and release news, to some amazing pics/vids/facts about the rally drivers who triggered the whole project. We’re looking to come out with at least a couple of posts a week, so stay tuned as you won’t want to miss a dang thing. For an update on production, and answers to frequently asked questions provided by director Cory Welles, you’ll find it here.
The First Screening!
We had our first (semi) formal screening of the film! The team (me, Cory, Loch), and a few special guests including Cory’s mother and Loch’s 5-year old son (you never know who might be in your target audience), took a look at the most recent cut in Loch’s luxurious home theatre.

Being the first big-screen viewing for any of us, it was damn impressive. Everyone had pretty much nothing but positive things to say, and it looks like we’re honing in on a picture lock. The only negative? Loch’s son was sprawled out, unconscious, 15 minutes in. Pretty rude, if you ask me. Guess that rules out the 3-7 audience.

-and a note about the music: Hub (our composer) came with so much fire that one of Loch’s speakers was literally blasted off the wall during the screening. Ring-a-ding-ding.
Crew, Photos, Production and Videos

Finally!!! Can’t wait for this movie to come out. It has been so long since the first announcement.
When do you think the movie will be available for purchase?
I never thought that making a documentary
could take so long… remember in “The
Driver” Alex says to someone that “it will
be out in 6 months”… I’m already waiting
for the making-of, just to understand.
Anyway, halleluia, the baby is coming. May
the force be with him.
At last - light at the end of the tunnel. I hope so .. after all the hard work by Alex and team on the road (and in the air!) Great to hear things are coming together.
Keep up the great work. The Blog was a great idea.. i had completely lost hope.
Best regards
HS. Audi RS6.
Good things come to those who wait….
Great to see some progress on this, alhough I’m sure work has been non-stop, just out of the public eye. Can’t wait
This is going to be great! There are lots of “old school” people like me that were in our 20’s back when the Cannonball and Express were happening. We want to see video instead of just reading about them. Thanks for your work!
I can’t wait, I can’t wait, gim’me, gim’me, gim’me this movie NOW! Stop with all the teasing guys.
Cant wait to see it! Ive been coming to this web-site reguarly since 2006 to find any updates on the movie, finally light at the end of the tunnel!
If they are screening the movie… the final version is close. Crossing my fingers. I’ve been waiting so long for this movie.
We’re ready, hoping for a “letter of acceptance” for the opening.
i think i just pooped a little
Big fan, loved the book, cannot wait for movie! “show these poncy wankers. Cane it!”
IT HAS BEEN 5 YEARS SINCE THE MSNBC INTERVIEW, CAN’T WAIT TO SEE MYSLEF ON THE BIG SCREEN!!!
Glad to see the movie is finally in motion! I am pretty sure I read about a co-driver somewhere along the way but I don’t see any mention of him anywhere on the blog…is he part of the movie? Just looking to get the whole experience! thnx
Glad to see that you’re one step closer to the finished product, can’t wait!
looking forward to seeing it!!
oh boy; oh boy; oh boy; oh boy; oh boy; oh boy; oh boy; oh boy; oh boy; oh boy … !!! Speed, baby!
makes me wanna grab a camera and steal a vette !
Woo-hoo! Can’t wait to see the final product. I’ve worn out the trailer DVDs at this point… And I’m especially looking foward to seeing my car “star” on the big screen
Best news Ive gotten in a long time. Cant wait to pick this up!
NICE!!!! Really looking forward to the movie. Always been fascinated by the Cannonball, and the Gumball. Didnt know about the U.S. Express till I read “The Driver”. Awesome book by the way…… Cant wait….
Thanks for the update and very glad to see signs of progress–looking forward to 32hr7mins for some time now.
Since reading the book, like others I can’t wait for the movie, sure would like to see it on I-MAX
Glad you guys had the funds to keep this going so long. The pre-production stuff looked amazing. Can’t wait to see the real thing! Way to get ‘er done Cory. Congratulations.
If you are seeking a place to show the film, please consider The Beloit International Film Festival… http://www.beloitfilmfest.com/
Feb 19-22, 2009 (as if Sundance, etc. wasn’t enough).
At last…..
Yippieeeeeeeeeeeeee
…Simply can’t wait any longer, you’ve simply rekindled the initial Tease of the trailers.. how am I supposed to sleep now?
-Well Driven-
..Shame that all but German road laws suppourt the ignorant driver without spatial awareness (as i saw on one of your ‘Tube’ trailers, before the dispatch call came in..) as opposed to those whom know how exactly to control power. :-p
Regards, Respect, and Safe Driving..
Max -Big Diesel Golf
P.S. You think the Sequel will involve a “Veyron” (Just for the Fun)?
I was excited to see the just the 84 US Express footage, but to get A Roys work in there too will make this that much better. Even if it’s just straight to video it will go on my shelf right next to Vanishing Point and Fascination.
Looking forward to seeing it. Any chance of getting to watch Roy’s N.Y. version of Rendezvous, maybe during the credits? Keep it up.
Hoping to see this soon, although my Trans-Canada one may be done sooner/
I’m a 60’s wild child that still likes to live on the edge, and one of the all time classic films that persuaded me to build a replica of the Shelby Cobra(160MPH) was the Gum Ball rally. I tip my hat to you for all your efforts, and can’t wait to see this movie, Thanks1
I was on the ‘83 US Express (Monte Carlo SS) and finished 6th! Great stories and memories!!!!!!!
Hope to be at the premier!
John
So freaking excited! It must be a couple of years now that I have been tracking this. Can’t wait to see it.
Money, time, technology, more money, even more time, family, work, lack of money, democratic process, lack of time, life…
All that gets in the way of a worthy project brings depression. All the accolades from true fans makes it all worth while. And with any luck pays for it too…
All the effort and investment brings back many a fond memory.
Congrats to the entire team and crew. I look forward to the ride…
Had been cheecking every time i logged on for something new happeneing with the film - and finally it happened. Cannot wait to see it. Is there a planned release date for the U.K?
So, Cory and Robin, did you end up using any footage of the red Ferrari 308 that you shot in Ohio?
Finally! I’ve been diagnosed with mesothelioma (an incurable form of cancer) and had given up hope of actually seeing the film in my lifetime.
Needless to say, I can’t wait a lot longer. Before I was officially certified as 100% disabled, I had hoped to do PR (my current career) for the film. Nonetheless, I’m happy to help in any way I can, including by granting interviews, etc.
My best to all the U.S. Expressers and Cannonballers out there.
Having just read “The Driver” several months ago, I can hardly wait for the film. Hat’s off Alex, Cory and the team for working to make this creative vision a reality! Keep me posted.
i dont get why your all famous from this alex roy. i recently bought an e36 speed limited m3, in colorado, and smoked your supposed 91 mph average, with nothing but a jeep cherokee plate,no registry, and an escort 8500 passport, its to bad you had to buy your cannonball run, use a spotter plane and jammers. thats not outlaw driving, thats training wheels.
denver international, to nyc. around 95 average, with nothing but a radar and a bunch of nascar rigs. your supposed california to nyc, seems like you could have done, 3 hours less, ill make ya a documentary.
I seriously can’t wait for this to come out. I know all of you have worked your hearts out, I wish you the best of luck when it’s released. Cory and Adam, I personally want to take a minute to thank both of you for the time you spent editing for the family.
Sending love and some hard core positive energy your way
what was workd for? a gravy train ride across the country with a bunch of driving aids. this films viewers will consist of a bunch of wannabee drivers who never went full throttle.
I am itching to see this. Bought two copies of the book - one as a gift, but when and where? Not complaining, but very eager and excited to see this? Can we get big headlines declaring when please?
